In this article, you'll learn about Lokalise Flow projects and how to manage them.
What are Lokalise Flow projects?
A project on Lokalise Flow is where all the languages and translations for a specific store are managed. Simply put, one project equals one store.
Each project belongs to a workspace, which can contain multiple projects (stores).
Creating projects
You’ll create a project when you first install the Lokalise Flow app in your store. After installation, you'll be redirected to the Flow website to set up your new project:
Project name — this is based on your store's name on Shopify and can't be changed.
Base language — this is the primary language of your store, the one you'll translate from.
Target languages — these are the languages you'll translate into, matching those supported by Shopify. In the beta version, you can select up to two languages. If you need more, contact us via the chat in the bottom-right corner.
To learn more about project languages, please refer to the Languages article. Keep in mind that any existing translations on Shopify will be overwritten upon publishing data from Lokalise Flow. To backup existing translations, follow instructions in the Target languages section.
Once you’ve completed the initial setup, click Continue.
Starting AI translation
After clicking Continue, you’ll be prompted to set up a project style guide and glossary. Follow the instructions in the Glossary and Style guide articles to learn more.
When you are ready, click Start AI Translation.
Flow does not import certain content types that are listed in the FAQ.
Lokalise Flow usually takes 2-5 minutes to sync your content with Shopify. Once synchronization is complete, AI translation will begin. When the Content Manager shows that statuses are set to "Translating," it's safe to close your browser. You can return to the project once everything is translated:
Publishing content
You’ll receive a notification in the top-right corner when your content is fully translated.
Also you'll see a banner with a button to publish your data:
Once again, don't forget that existing translations will be overwritten. If you want to backup these, refer to the instructions in the Languages article.
Projects dashboard
The main page of Lokalise Flow is your projects dashboard, where you can find all projects within the current workspace.
For every project, you'll see:
Name — the name of the project.
List of target languages — the languages you're translating into.
Translation progress for the target languages — the current status of translations.
A button to view the project — click to view project languages and translations.
